Welcome to NEFHCOD

Welcome to the websight for Network for Holistic Comunity Development, NEFHCOD, is an NGO based in the Rakai district of Uganda. They are an orginization with a mission to empower communities and the needy for sustainable economic development.
NEFHCOD has been experiencing some restructuring, with the creation of three divisions of recent. It also more recently expanded its area of operation to include kasasa subcounty in Kakuuto county.

VISION
A country in which communities and marginalized groups of people are aware of and able to carry out sustainable development.

MISSION
Our mission is to empower communities and the needy for sustainable economic development.

GOALS
By 2020, orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Rakai District will have an option for a better life through training, guidance and counseling as well as material support.
By 2020, people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) in Rakai District will be trained and be able to develop skills in agriculture, health, education and environment.
By 2020, persons with disabilities (PWD) in Rakai District will have access to counseling, a health center with improved and adapted facilities, as well as better community support through education and awareness.
By 2020, community groups and individuals in Rakai District will be helped into income generating projects (IGA) for sustainable community development.
By 2020, elderly persons in Rakai District will be provided with better shelter, medication, food and basic needs for healthy living.

OBJECTIVES
By 2008 NEFHCOD will train 50 Behavior Change Development Assistants (BCDA) in issues of community health such as; HIV/AIDS, guidance and counseling, life skills, project management, IGAs, teacher training and school development. As result, an increased number of youth will have access to skills development opportunities and adults participating in the training will be empowered with new skills.
By 2008, 95% of PLWA, OVC and communities in Kyalulangira, Byakabanda and Kibanda sub counties will be reached and supported with knowledge and skills. As result, the standard of living of participants and their families will improve.
By 2015, NEFHCOD will reach six other sub counties in Rakai and will continue to expand to all of Uganda. As result, access to health education and the over all standard of living of people residing in the service area will improve.
By 2008, NEFHCOD will conduct 30 stakeholders meetings to train and sensitize the stakeholders on organizational activities. As result, NEFHCOD will be better able to reaches its service communities.
MEMBERS
NEFHCOD has 1,684 members organized into 60 small groups. These stakeholders include people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, OVC, PWD, the elderly and widows.
ACTIVITIES
Some activities NEFHCOD has sponsored in the past are:
· Capacity building of its staff members in fields including behavior change development assistance, HIV/AIDS education, life skills and other fields.
· Provision of agricultural inputs to stakeholder groups.
· Sensitization and technical guidance of various community groups on development issues including HIV/AIDS, agriculture, guidance and counseling, environment, and IGA.
· Guidance and counseling of PLWA.
· Vegetables given to PLWA.
· Conducted 12 stakeholders meetings including local council executives, staff, parents and other targeted beneficiaries.
· Conducted baseline surveys in all sub-counties NEFHCOD operates.
· Conducted work shops on positive living for PLWA.
